Two weeks ago, I took some time to make a trip to Brooklyn to visit a tailoring company run by a man named Martin Greenfield. It was a hike, I got lost, but I finally found the brick factory in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Martin Greenfield cannot turn back the hands of time. The Remsenburg resident cannot flip the calendar back 67 years, return to his home country of Czechoslovakia, or prevent World War II or the Holocaust.

HOUSED AT THE rear of Martin Greenfield's Brooklyn clothing plant is an informal archive, a sturdy steel rack that holds the tailor's interpretations of men's wear's past glories. There, sleeve by sleeve with a fancy top-stitched Western sport coat and a denim leisure suit hangs an old Eisenhower jacket.
